This is a Tapa puzzle, with a twist. There may not be four consecutive black cells in any row or column. The usual rule that there may be no two by two square of black cells is waived and no longer applies.

I got through this at the start much more by trying and learning, but once I caught onto some of the tricks I really enjoyed this. Just like your no 5 in a line Nurikabe, the long length constraint is a little less intuitive than the 2×2, but results in fun new things.

Loved this. In particular, the global connectedness deductions (the variation seems to permit more interesting logic here) and the pretty solution. Not sure whether the normal Tapa rules force this, but I tend to find the solutions too “dense”.

How dense standard Tapa are can vary. If it’s crocopuzzle Tapa you’re used to, those are most certainly too dense; they don’t give any low clues on those.

Super puzzle. Not a big tapa fun to begin with, and this Mellow Melon variation took this snail far too long, but I enjoyed every minute (and actually hour) of it. Thanks.
