Puzzle 269 (Slitherlink) [Interior Path]

This is a Slitherlink puzzle, with a twist. The clues have their usual meaning and there is still a single loop to draw. But after drawing this loop, you must also be able to draw a path passing through adjacent grid squares that visits every square inside the loop exactly once. The path starts and ends at a different square, and although it may not be uniquely determined, one must exist.

I doubt I’m the only one that believed this variation was begging to be revisited. Last time I posted it, I gave clues in one third of the grid cells and had the nerve to call it a sparse arrangement. To be fair though, this particular instance does things a bit differently from that last one.

    Great puzzle, thanks!

These are particularly visually appealing when solved (on paper, with black “link”, blue path and shaded interiour).

They’re probably easier to do on paper in general, since marking inside and outside squares is so helpful (for this puzzle, I’d go so far as to say required).

Wow. Took a boatload for me to learn as I went and then to conclude it with less pure logic and more “feel.” Fantastic. Thanks.

Finally solved this one after quite a bit of staring. I could certainly have made an error, but I think I see two possible solutions to this puzzle; they differ locally near the 2 in the top center (on the second row). One solution has the 2 inside, the other has it outside.

    Thanks for the great puzzle!
