Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. There are no (normal) walls or numbers in this puzzle.

This puzzle is incredibly susceptible to trial and error. For the full solving experience, try to use direct logic with every step.

    Akari EX reminds me of the Reflections mode in LunaPix (http://krispixton.com/LunaPix/download.htm). However, in that mode, all of the mirrors MUST be illuminated, but a light bulb CAN illuminate itself. Either variation, I believe, would allow for a puzzle without numbers (besides a trivial 1×1 puzzle or the like, of course).

      Yeah, their rules would definitely allow a puzzle with no numbers, and it would probably make it a lot easier to construct. For this one I had to pretty much exclusively rely on light bulbs not being allowed to illuminate themselves, and that’s not an easy rule to make use of.
