It seems I may end up returning to weekly posts after all. You’ll just have to forgive me for the fact that many of them will be rejects from other projects (which are not named Mystery Hunt).
WordPress continues to give ugly thumbnails. Above I’ve employed the best solution I found, which is to upload a manually-scaled thumbnail to show up on the post. Clicking the image will still get you the full-size version. Pain in the butt for me though.

The symmetry and lack of edge clues was as hard to pull off as it looks like, both in constructing and proving uniqueness. I don’t think the puzzle itself is that difficult though.

Puzzle 278
I will confess that I am not 100% sure of uniqueness on this puzzle. But be assured that the method I used to convince myself was not “try for awhile to find a different solution”. I did try with success to work out a proof. I’m just not as sure of each step as I would be for proving an ordinary puzzle’s uniqueness.
In my opinion this puzzle is a bit on the easy side for Numberlinks of this size, which means it’s still hard.

Puzzle 260
I feel a bit guilty for posting that solving guide now. The best Numberlinks in my experience are the ones with the least straightforward solution. So when I’m constructing these I’m always trying to play games with the tricks I described in that post. I feel like a salesman that just convinced you to buy a product that does nothing but punch you in the face.
On thinking about it more though, a lot of my puzzles are a punch in the face. I guess you guys like it.
